On Dreams – 3 of 10

Part 3 of my self-study into dreaming looks specifically at the type of dream in which you have an object in your hands that you want in real life. Only when you wake, the object in question is gone and nowhere to be seen, or otherwise totally unobtainable!

I’m sure there are occasions when deeper psychological meanings can be attached to dreams like these and I’m sure I’ve experienced a few myself! The dream that inspired this poem, however, was a very simple case of my young mind desperately wanting a particular toy (a Sega Game Gear in this case). For some reason, it’s a dream that has stuck with me! It’s daft and it’s shallow, but it has formed a permanent memory and I find that fascinating!

Sweet dreams!

But…I Just Had it!

Hold on just a minute,
wasn’t I just sitting
in a different room
and gripping,
something I assumed
was mine?
Am I the victim,
of a crime?
Or did I pass out
and lose track of time?
All I know is what was mine,
has been consigned to the
basements of my mind.
